Rose of Sharon named Not for Profit of the Year by Newmarket BEA

On Wednesday October 19th, Rose of Sharon was awarded the 2011 Not For Profit of the Year Newmarket Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award. We were honoured to have been nominated along with two other wonderful charities in Newmarket. Our thanks to the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce and the Awards committee for recognizing the value our agency brings to our community.

Thanks Koodonation and Jeremy Taggart!

On Thursday October 13th, students from Ontario colleges and universities competed against each other in a remarkable obstacle course at Toronto’s Yonge and Dundas Square in the hopes of winning $15,000 for the charity of their choice. This event was hosted by Sheena Snively from MTV Live and also featured celebrity judges including Jeremy Taggart from Our Lady Peace, Daniel Johnson from Canadian band Stereos, Toronto Argonaut Mike Bradwell and social media blogger Casie Stewart. As a thank you for their support, Koodonation.com made a $20,000 donation in each of their names to a charity of their choice. Rose of Sharon is honored to have been selected by Jeremy Taggart of Our Lady Peace.

"Colour Your Community" Program

In September, Rose of Sharon was contacted by ICI Paints, Akzo Nobel Canada Inc. in Newmarket about their "Colour our Community" colour program and after consideration, chose Rose of Sharon to be the recipient of this initiative. The company donated 36 gallons of paint, recruited over 30 volunteers who came out on October 14th to re-invigorate our space for mothers and children accessing our services! Further, the management team chose low volatile component paints that are the safest for prenatal women and young children.
